Ylang Ylang oil (pronounced ee-lang ee-lang) Cananga odorata oil is used to treat hair loss because of its calming properties. One type of hair loss is caused by stress, telogen effluvium. It causes the hair to go into a resting state and the hair roots fall out, according to Mayo Clinic. Once the stress is reduced or eliminated, the hair grows back.
A 2006 study by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand noted that Ylang Ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure and an increase in skin temperature.

Tea Tree Oil Melaleuca alternifolia is effective in treating acne. In a 2010 issue of "The American Journal of Clinical Dermatology," researchers suggest that Tea Tree Oil is so effective in treating acne that it may become the standard of care for acne treatment. Neem oil Azadirachta indica, a natural microbial, might also help combat head lice.
